Mayo family pay moving tribute following sad passing of much-loved lady

There is tremendous sadness following the passing of Eileen Queenan.
Eileen, of Lord Edward Street, Ballina, and formerly of Beltra, Co Sligo, passed away peacefully at her resident surrounded by her loving family.
The Queenan family operate Fred Queenan & Sons Bus Hire and posted a moving tribute to Eileen.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beautiful Mum, Eileen. She was the heart of our family, our greatest supporter, and the kindest, most caring person anyone could hope to know. Her warmth, strength, generosity, and love touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed every single day.
“As a family, we are heartbroken, but we take comfort in the wonderful memories she has given us and in the incredible kindness and support we have received from our family, friends, customers, and our community. Your messages, prayers, and condolences have meant more to us than words can express.
“In true Eileen fashion, she chose a memorable day to leave us. She passed away on the very day Mayo finally brought Sam home. As lifelong Mayo supporters, we’d like to think she had a little hand in it from above. It makes the day all the more bittersweet, giving us a small smile through our tears, and that’s exactly the kind of joy she always brought into our lives.”
Eileen had courageously battled Motor Neurone disease. She and her family organised a campaign raise funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and last week A Night For Eileen Queenan with Declan Nerney was staged in Great National Hotel Ballina.
Eileen was the beloved wife of Fred, and a loving mother to Brian, Aileen, Eamon &and Maire.
She will be greatly missed by her heartbroken husband, sons, daughters, daughters-in-law Cathy and Amy, sons-in-law Mark and Stephen, adored grandchildren Tommy, Jack, Alfie, Darragh, Michael, Mia, Molly & Kathleen, sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Reposal takes place at McGowan’s funeral home, Ballina tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7pm until 8.30pm.
Funeral will arrive to St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina on Wednesday morning for Requiem Mass at 11.30am followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass.
