Mayo Roads Policing Unit detected and stopped an e-scooter travelling at a speed of 36km/h last weekend.

The rider, who continued to drive in the middle of the road in an erratic manner, was found to be intoxicated.

The rider was arrested and taken to a Garda Station, and after an Evidential Breath Test, the test showed the rider was almost 9 times over the legal limit.

The e-scooter was also seized, and the rider will be prosecuted before the courts.
