Lucky winner of new car in Mayo LGFA draw announced
Agnes Kerrigan was announced as the winner on Monday evening as Mayo LGFA's hugely successful Win a Car or €35,000 Cash fundraising campaign came to a close at JJ Burkes Peugeot showroom in Ballinrobe.
A lucky winner has scooped a new car following Mayo LGFA's hugely successful draw.
Agnes Kerrigan, from outside the Westport area can take home a new Peugeot car or €35,000 in cash following the fundraising draw.
The campaign came to a close at JJ Burke's Peugeot showroom in Ballinrobe.
The draw marked the culmination of one of the association's most successful fundraising initiatives to date, capturing the imagination of supporters not only across Mayo but throughout Ireland and among the Mayo diaspora overseas.
Thousands of supporters backed the initiative over recent months, helping to generate vital funding for both clubs and county.
A unique feature of the campaign saw participating clubs retain 50% of every ticket sold, ensuring a significant and immediate financial return to grassroots football across the county.
The funds raised will now be invested directly into the future of ladies Gaelic football in Mayo, supporting clubs with equipment, facilities, coaching, player development and creating more opportunities for girls and women to participate in the game.
Mayo LGFA Chairperson Sinéad Stagg said the extraordinary response reflected the strength of community support for ladies football. “We have been genuinely overwhelmed by the support shown throughout this campaign. It resonated with people right across Mayo, throughout Ireland and among our diaspora further afield. Every ticket purchased was an investment in the future of Ladies football in Mayo, and the response exceeded all of our expectations.” “This initiative was always about much more than winning a fantastic prize. It was about empowering our clubs by providing them with a risk-free fundraising opportunity while strengthening the future of our game across the county. We are deeply grateful to every person who bought a ticket, shared our campaign or volunteered their time. The success of this campaign belongs to our clubs, our volunteers and our supporters.” Mayo LGFA extends its sincere congratulations to Agnes Kerrigan on winning the Peugeot 3008 and thanks every supporter who made this landmark campaign such an outstanding success.
