Gardaí talk man down from crane on Talbot Street
James Cox
A man had to be talked down from the top of a crane in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
The incident brought part of the north inner city to a standstill.
Gardaí were called to the scene on Talbot Street yesterday evening after concerns for a man who had climbed a crane and was refusing to come down.
They activated their emergency response and an on-scene commander was appointed while Garda negotiators, along with several other Garda units, were brought in.
Traffic was disrupted, while Luas services were impacted as a cordon was put in place.
Following successful negotiations, the man was safely brought to the ground - before being arrested.
He was detained at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
Gardaí are continuing to question the man in relation to the "major security incident".
