Leading Mayo agricultural show this Saturday

A big weekend in Crossmolina gets underway in some style with the 2026 Crossmolina Agricultural Show this Saturday.
It promises to be one of the biggest and best family days of the year ahead of local heroes Jordan Flynn, Kobe McDonald and Conor Loftus lining out for Mayo in Sunday's All-Ireland football final.
The gates at St Tiernan's Park, home of Crossmolina Deel Rovers, will open at 8am on Saturday morning for the 68th staging of one of the country’s foremost agricultural shows, offering a wide range of brand-new activities as well as some familiar Crossmolina Show favourites across a jam-packed programme, with organisers taking great pride in offering something of interest for young and old.
Expect exhibitions of livestock, farm produce, trade stands and horse jumping alongside slices of country life from pedigree animals to home baking and much, much more. Once again, there will be a fantastic vintage display at the Crossmolina Show. Enthusiasts from near and far bring their cars, tractors, engines, farm machinery and industrial machinery, to mention just a few. There will be threshing on display also.
There will be fierce but friendly competition across a wide range of classes, categories and activities from agricultural to domestic. There are some brilliant prizes on offer and this year, the Class H10 Showjumping Type Mare and Foal and Class H11 Eventing Type Mare and Foal both have prize money to the value of €700 on offer.
This year, the Crossmolina Show has launched its inaugural Kitchen Garden Award. The competition is open to households within the parishes of Ardagh, Crossmolina, Moygownagh and Lahardane. Gardens will be judged on variety and quality of garden produce and the garden design.
Visits and judging will be made prior to the show day and the winners announced on the day of the show. The competition has encouraged families in the area to grow their own garden by planting vegetables, fruits, herbs or edible plants for household consumption.
Judging in livestock categories takes place across the morning with a dog show taking place from 11am and a performance from the world champion Moffatt School of Irish Dancing at 12pm before Noel Mullins, former editor of the Irish Field, officially opens the Crossmolina Show at 12.30pm.
The craic continues in the afternoon with a jiving competition for adults, the Bonny Baby competition, Tug o' War and lunging events, and a Donkey Derby. Glamorous Granny and Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and Gentleman will be chosen at 4pm.
A full line-up of children’s entertainment takes place from 11am to 3pm, with classic games such as egg-and-spoon races, sandpits, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four and much more on offer. Access to a new sensory area, the Sensory Pod, is also available. The Sensory Pod is a dedicated quiet space designed to support children and individuals who may experience sensory overload or require a calm and understanding environment during their visit to the show.
Music takes place in the field all day from Robert Padden with evening entertainment with Shane Ruane from 6pm before Paddy Garvin sings the show into the night from 9pm in the Marquee.
Gates open from 8am on Saturday, July 25 for the Crossmolina Agricultural Show, which is not to be missed.
