A prominent Castlebar business premises has been put up for sale.
Parson’s Shoes, located at the top of the Main Street in the county town, is on the market with a price tag of €850,000.
Established in 1927, the popular family business has been a fixture in Castlebar for almost 100 years.
Founded by Carracastle native, Martin Parsons, the business began its life on Bridge Street before a fire saw the store move to a new premises at the top of the street.
The location has affectionately been known as ‘Parson’s Corner’ for many years.
The large three-storey building which also boasts a basement extends over 750 square metres.
The site is currently arranged as a large split level retail unit at ground floor level, with basement storage and upper floors historically used for a mix of storage and residential purposes.
Estate agent Gerard O'Toole of O'Toole & Co said the property presents a unique development opportunity given its scale, town centre location, and rear access. The upper floors are said to be in poor condition and would require extensive refurbishment or redevelopment.
