Lady of the Moy to be crowned this Friday

This year’s edition of the Lady of the Moy competition, as part of the the 60th anniversary of the Ballina Salmon Festival, is taking place this week.

It is set to be a nostalgic affair at the Great National Hotel on Friday night as organisers celebrate the storied history of the competition. They have invited all of the past Ladies of the Moy to the event to take a trip down memory lane for this pre-festival event.

For the Ladies of the Moy who are sadly no longer with us, their families are invited to send along a family member to honour their time as Lady of the Moy.

The invite is extended to winners of the Queen of the Moy, which was the former name of the competition until it was changed in the 1990s.

Organisers are still calling for those who have been involved for the past 60 years to get in contact to take part in this Friday’s festivities via email: theladyofthemoy@gmail.com.

The Lady of the Moy takes place this Friday night, June 28, at the Great National Hotel at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale.
