Innovative Mayo-based company to benefit from TikTok star's fundraisers

TikTok sensation Niall MacMillan took on a charity milking challenge to support Cubbie, a Mayo-based organisation specialising in multi-sensory spaces for children with autism.

A TikTok star with nearly seven million followers is planning to raise funds for a Mayo-created therapy tool, writes Paul O'Malley.

Niall MacMillan, known as Gen Z’s answer to Mr Bean, carried out his first fundraiser, a cow-milking challenge in aid of Cubbie.

Cubbie is an immersive multi-sensory space that reduces anxiety and encourages participation among autistic and neurodivergent children. It was founded by Swinford man David McIntyre.

Dad-of-three Niall set out to help Cubbie install as many of their devices in schools as possible to help children with autism, including his youngest son Ellison.

He partnered with Tom Pemberton, host of BBC Three programme The Fast and the Farmer-ish, for his first challenge which saw him milk five litres from a cow in one session.

“As parents, we’ve been on a huge learning journey since Ellison was diagnosed with autism. Sensory overload can be a huge challenge for people with autism and the Cubbie Sensory Hub is so clever - it uses technology to help people with autism and ADHD quickly re-regulate their senses and feel less overwhelmed,” said Niall, "it is so important to have one in every school."
