Last weekend, the Mayo Mountain Rescue team was called out by An Garda Síochána to assist a woman who had unfortunately fallen and injured her ankle while descending Croagh Patrick.

She was with her mother and three others when the accident occurred. Unable to continue her descent, she wisely called 999 for mountain rescue assistance.

The first response team was dispatched and located the woman on the track, approximately 30 minutes from the main car park. They provided emergency care and treatment while awaiting the arrival of our stretcher party. The woman was then safely stretchered off the mountain to a waiting ambulance, which transported her to Mayo University Hospital.

Mayo Mountain Rescue sent their best wishes to the woman for a speedy and full recovery.
