Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo-Leitrim Eamon Scanlon has welcomed the news from the Health Service Executive (HSE) that plans are moving forward for the construction of the long-awaited Tubbercurry Primary Care Centre.
Deputy Scanlon raised the matter in the Dáil through a parliamentary question to the Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and received a reply from the HSE, stating that the primary care centre will be provided through the HSE Capital Plan and is currently at the design stage.
“I am delighted to hear from the HSE and I thank them for the update on this very important facility," said Deputy Scanlon. "They have informed me that the project is currently at Stage 2C, which is the design process which is preparation for tender design.
“I was informed the design has been completed and it is currently undergoing a pre-tender review. Subject to its approval, the project is expected to enter the tender process by the second quarter of this year."
Deputy Scanlon has said the delivery of a primary care centre for Tubbercurry is essential to alleviate pressures and provide essential care to local people.
“I am delighted to say planning permission has been granted for the primary care centre and the project has an anticipated overall construction programme of 18 months, once construction starts."
Deputy Scanlon said the project, when finished, will have huge benefits for healthcare in Co Sligo.
“The delivery of this primary care centre is of paramount importance to the local community. It will ensure alleviation of any pressures being felt by the local hospital and provide essential care to the people of the local community."
