Gardaí find fox cub in a cage at Mayo property

Recently, gardaí in Mayo conducted planned searches of a number of properties around the county.
While the searches were ongoing, they came across a caged fox cub.
The gardaí liaised with the local dog warden to bring the fox to safety and had a vet assess him. The fox was then brought to an animal rescue centre.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated: "Foxes are wild animals and it is a criminal offence to keep any wild animal in captivity."
They are investigating under the Animal Health and Welfare Act, 2013.
