Funeral mass takes place for Mayo grandmother who died after being hit by a car

The funeral Mass of Sheila Holian, née Curtin, of Glebe Street, Ballinrobe, takes place today.

Sheila passed away tragically after a road traffic accident in the town last week.

She was struck by a car in Ballinrobe on Thursday afternoon and was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment.

Sheila passed away on Saturday surrounded by her loving family in the Intensive Care Unit. She was 81 years old.

Her funeral cortege was due to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Ballinrobe, at 11am, with Requiem Mass at 11.30am.

The funeral will continue to proceed to New Cemetery, Ballinrobe, for burial.

Sheila is predeceased by her beloved husband Pat, her parents Michael and May, her brothers Joe, Paddy and Michael, her sisters Colette and baby Helena, brothers-in-law Paddy, Dick, Fred and Brian, and sisters-in-law June and Lynn.

She will be forever loved and missed by her children Damien, Anne, Shelly and Edel. Her daughter-in-law Juliette, her sons-in-law Nicol, Patrick and John. Her grandchildren Patrick, Daniel, Patrick, Katie, Sean and great-grandchildren. 

Her sisters Mary Nolan, Castlebar and Ita Heddington, Liverpool and sisters-in-law Máire and Peggy, her cousin Martin, nieces and nephews, cousins. Her best friends Betty, Margaret and Irene, her wide circle of friends, young and old and her lovely neighbours on Glebe Street. Her constant canine companions, Louie and Holly.
