Fundraiser to support Ballina man who had to have emergency brain surgery

A fundraiser has been set up to support a Ballina man and his family after he became critically unwell and had to undergo emergency brain surgery.
Cian Cawley is currently under specialist care with further treatment and a long and uncertain road to recovery ahead of him.
His cousin Rachel Cawley, who organised the fundraiser through GoFundMe, said that in the space of a moment everything changed for their family.
“The last number of days have been some of the most frightening and difficult our family has ever experienced,” she said.
“There is nothing that can prepare parents for seeing their child go through something so serious, or a family for the waiting, hoping and praying that comes with it.”
Cian is the son of Mona and Baz and big brother to Riley, Zak and Corey. Rachel set they set up the fundraiser to take pressure off Mona and Baz to be there for their son.
“With Cian facing further treatment and a long recovery ahead, we want them to be able to stay by their son’s side and focus completely on Cian without having to worry about the financial pressures that can come with time away from work, travel, rehabilitation and other unexpected expenses.”
She added that any contribution would be meaningful to the family at this time.
“Cian has so many people behind him, both near and far. Keep fighting, Cian. We are all behind you every step of the way,” she said.
