Confirmed: The Mayo schools approved for funding
Minister for Social Protection; and Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht: Dara Calleary TD confirmed the Mayo schools approved for funding.
Funding has been approved for 12 Mayo schools under the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.
It supports schools in addressing building condition needs while delivering climate action measures that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.
Confirmed by Fianna Fáil Mayo TD Dara Calleary, he said: "I am delighted to confirm that a number of Mayo based primary and post-primary schools have been successful in their applications including:
St. Oliver Plunkett NS, Ballina;
Naomh Padraig Sáile;
Cooneal NS;
Croí Muire NS Belmullet;
Crosmolina NS;
St. Mary’s NS Partry;
St. Anthony’s Castlebar;
St. Muredach’s College Ballina;
Rice College Westport;
Scoil Muire agus Padraig Swinford;
St. Brendan’s College Belmullet;
St. Joseph’s Community School Charlestown.
"Among the various types of works that each school will undertake include mechanical works, toilet facilities, roof repairs and window upgrades. I am pleased that the Department has responded favourably to these applications and to representations made on behalf of these school communities. I wish them all every success with the works."
Schools are required by legislation to report their energy use annually online through the Sustainable Energy Association of Ireland (SEAI).
As part of the government’s Climate Action Plan, schools that have summer works projects are required to register online with the SEAI and commit to submit the appropriate returns before any payment can issue in respect of the approved projects.
