Five charities benefit from staff event at Mayo industry

Áirc were one of several charities to benefit from the 8th Annual Hollister 5K/10K Walk and Run. Pictured presenting the cheque were, from left: Ann Egan, Anne Gallagher, Cillian Cawley, Ciarán Cawley, Louise Power, Deirdre Helly, Pauline Burns and Mary Lawrence.
The eighth annual Hollister 5K/10K Walk Run event took place last July.
As in previous years, the employees dug deep and the benefitting charities were North West SPCA, a dedicated animal charity based in Ballina; Daisy Lodge, a therapeutic short break centre for Irish children diagnosed with cancer and their families; Áirc, which provides various support to the families of children with disabilities in Mayo; the Mayo Women’s Support Services, supporting women and children to live free from domestic violence; and the Parkinsons Association.
All the charities were delighted to receive donations for their very worthwhile causes with €8,500 raised and shared amongst them.
Typical of summer 2024, the day turned out to be wet and windy and not very amenable to outdoor activities, but the Hollister crew toughed it out and there was a great turnout of associates and their families, walking and running the routes through Belleek Woods followed up by a fabulous BBQ in Jack Fenn’s at Belleek Castle.
Although soaked through, everyone was smiling, happy and satisfied to have completed another great fundraiser for local charities.
Hollister is happy to give back to the community and the receiving charities are very happy to benefit from their efforts.
