Final countdown to the West of Ireland Mini-Marathon

Registration continues for the Mayo.ie Western People Women's Mini-Marathon 2025.
With just over a week to go, and t-shirts almost sold out, those interested in partaking in the event are strongly encouraged to sign up immediately to secure the last remaining places.
Friday, April 18, was the last date to register to receive mini-marathon t-shirts in the post, but adult and teenage participants wanting to wear their specially designed souvenir tech top can still collect their event packs in advance at the following times and locations:
Friday, May 2 (5pm to 7pm) and Saturday, May 3 (11am to 1pm): Lough Lannagh Suite, Lough Lannagh Leisure Centre, Castlebar.
Participants can also collect their event packs on the morning of the races at the Event Marquee on the Mall before 10.30am.
Registration for the free 2km Mini Mini Fun Run for primary schoolchildren, supported by Healthy Mayo, is also still open, with some places remaining. The first 800 children registered receive a free souvenir t-shirt, and Mini Mini packs can be collected in advance from Mayo Sports Partnership, Mayo House, Moneen, Castlebar F23 N504 on Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 1 (1pm to 4pm), or Lough Lannagh Reception on Friday, May 2 (5pm to 7pm), and Saturday, May 3 (11am to 1pm) or The Mall Event Marquee on Sunday, May 4, before 10.30am.
Every participant in this year’s event – adult and child - will also receive a specially commissioned souvenir eco-medal, so don’t miss out.
A series of giveaways sponsored by Castlebar Chamber members are also up for grabs on the West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon social media channels when signed up for the event, with prizes donated by members including the TF Royal Hotel and Theatre, Breaffy House Resort, Team Horizon, Nyrah Beauty, The Dining Room, Pamex, Anatomy Physiotherapy and Carraig Donn.
All participants in the Mini Mini Fun Run will also be entered into a prize draw to win a 12-month Westport Adventure Membership for a family of four, thanks to the team at Westport Estate.
Some temporary road closures will also be in place in Castlebar on race day, and delays may be expected.
The Mall will be closed from 9.30am to 4pm on the day. Alternative routes will be in place with the N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and L1732 Steven Garvey Way as diversions.

Ellison St (9.30am-3pm) - alternative routes via N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and L1732 Steven Garvey Way.
Lower Spencer St (10.30am-12.30pm) - alternative routes via N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and R310 Old Westport Road.
Duke St (12pm-1pm) - alternative routes via N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and L1732 Steven Garvey Way/Hopkins Rd.
Newport Rd to Pound Rd (12pm-1pm) - alternative route via L1732 Link Road (by Davitt College).
Pound Rd (12pm-1pm) - alternative route via R310 Chapel St.
Gallows Hill (12pm-1pm) - alternative routes via R310 New Antrim St, Linenhall St, Lucan St, L1725 Ballinaglough, and R311 Newport Road.
Newline (12pm-1pm) - alternative routes via (Tucker St) R310 New Antrim St, Linenhall St, R373 Lucan St, Thomas St, and L1719 Turlough Rd.
Pontoon Rd to Ballinacarriga (12pm-2pm) - alternative route via L1720 Windy Gap.
Ballinvilla Rd (Ballinacarriga to Ballynew) - alternative routes via N5, L5784 Leicnín,and L1719 Turlough Rd.
Ballynew/Turlough Rd (12pm-2.30pm) - alternative routes via N5, L5784 Leicnín, and L1719 Turlough Rd.
Staball Hill/Thomas St (12.15pm-2.30pm) - alternative routes via R310 New Antrim St, and Pontoon Rd.
Bridge St (12.15pm-2.30pm) - alternative routes via N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and L1732 Steven Garvey Way/Hopkins Rd.
The race will finish at Main St (12.15pm-2.30pm) - alternative routes via N5 Ring Rd, R310 Lannagh Rd, and L1732.
