Excitement as Mayo dog makes progress in Nose of Tralee competition
Molly.
A sprocker dog who was adopted from a Mayo rescue service six months ago has been voted as Mayo’s ‘Nose of Tralee’ and will represent the county competing in the national final.
Molly is putting her best paw forward in hopes of winning Pet Sitters Ireland’s Nose of Tralee competition and has now reached the final 32, competing against cats, dogs and even a goat named Baaaarney from Co Clare.
Molly had been in the care of the North West SPCA in Ballina until around six months ago when she met her new best friend Grainne Armstrong.
“I sadly lost two springer spaniels last year, both 14 years of age, and I swore I’d never get a dog again,” Grainne told the .
“But then I saw North West had a post up about Molly and nobody was making a play for her and I thought, you know what, I’ll go and meet her.” “I’ve rescued all my dogs from North West over the years. I have so much time for them; they really do amazing work.”
Molly has brought a lot of excitement to Grainne’s life since she came to her new home in Ballina and is now hoping to complete her ‘wags’ to riches story by winning the Nose of Tralee.
The competition is a nationwide search to find Ireland’s cutest, funniest or most adorable pet, competing against cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters and more from across the land with incredible prizes on offer.
Voting starts again on July 24, with the winner announced on August 18 after the public voting concludes.
