Enniscrone man receives national award for saving woman's life at local beach

Enniscrone man Michael Breen received an award on Thursday, October 3, in Dublin for helping to save a person’s life last year on the Enniscrone beach from Water Safety Ireland
Congratulating Michael, Cllr Joe Queenan said ‘he kept this very quiet which is typical of him. He is involved in so much in Enniscrone but does not look for thanks or fanfare. He is a great community man and a top volunteer’.
On September 27, 2023, Michael was out walking his dog at Enniscrone beach.
He spotted a woman lying face down in the water. Michael ran down onto the beach and entered the water.
He managed to grab hold of the woman and bring her safely to the shore.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and took over. She made a full recovery.
Well done Michael for quickly taking action to save this woman’s life.
