Development plan set to transform town
A Town Centre First plan is coming for Ballymote, Co Sligo
South Sligo Councillor Dara Mulvey has welcomed the inclusion of Ballymote in Phase 2 of the Department of Rural and Community Development’s Town Centre First (TCF) Plans.
The TCF initiative aims to enable areas to pursue projects like redeveloping derelict sites, creating community parks and river walkways, protecting historical landmarks and boosting tourism.
“I, along with my Council colleagues, have been lobbying on behalf of community groups and Sligo County Council to bring much-needed funding to our towns and villages."
"This funding of €30,000 with consultation from local community groups will help progress the town's plans,” said Cllr Mulvey.
“Rural Ireland is centered on communities like Ballymote. Encouraging people to create a vision for their town that can improve it as a location to live, work, invest in, and enjoy is the main goal of Town Centre First action,” he added.
