Killala GAA club and the Clarke family recently held the launch night for the 2025 Ronan Clarke 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk. Special guests on the night were former Mayo senior footballer and manager James Horan and Frank Mulvihill of the Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, June 8th, at 12 noon from Killala Community Centre with registration starting at 10:30am. Special guest on the day will be Gerry Glennon of Midwest Radio.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Killala GAA Benevolent Fund.

The event commemorates Killala native Ronan Clarke who passed away in 2014 after a year-long battle with illness. A schoolteacher by profession, Ronan was also a hugely talented journalist who was a presenter on RTÉ's Ear to the Ground television series for several years. A keen sportsman, he was a member of Killala GAA Club and the club has been keen to honour Ronan's great legacy by organising the annual fundraising event each year.

Mark the date in your diary and make sure to attend the Ronan Clarke Run in Killala on Sunday, June 8th. It is always a very special and enjoyable community occasion.
