Mayo Roscommon Hospice has benefited to the tune of over €4,000 as a result of proceeds raised by this summer’s Westportif cycle. The event, which starts and finishes in Westport, is an annual leisure cycle event and has attracted thousands of cyclists to Mayo since it was first established in 2012.

Once again, the organisers were delighted to partner with Mayo Roscommon Hospice as its charity partner this year. The Hospice is an essential charity providing free, specialist palliative care to individuals and families across Mayo and Roscommon Deirdre Clarke, a member of the organising committee and also a representative of event sponsor Portwest, said: “We’re proud to support Mayo Roscommon Hospice and the incredible work they do in our region. Partnering with Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation gives real purpose to this event with every euro donated going towards supporting people in our region when they need it most.” Audrey Duffy expressed gratitude on behalf of Mayo Roscommon Hospice for the donation.

“We are deeply thankful to the Westportif team and all the participants for their incredible effort and generosity. These funds will help us continue to provide essential care and comfort to patients and families across Mayo and Roscommon, both in our hospice units and through our home care services.” A presentation of €4,419.08 was made to the Foundation.
