In all three incidents, the houses involved were ransacked and no items were taken.

Investigations into the three incidents remain ongoing. A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said they are treating these incidents very seriously and they will soon be commencing the winter phase of Operation Thor, a national operation targeting burglaries.

The spokesperson advised people to leave lights on inside and outside their properties when they are not home to help deter burglaries. They reminded people to lock their windows and doors and to keep spare keys away from outside doors and windows.

The spokesperson added that the public should consider house alarms or CCTV systems and they should not keep large amounts of cash and jewellery in their house when not present.

Anyone with any information on the three incidents is asked to contact Ballina Garda Station on 096 20560.
