Man is fined for public order breach
The defendant pleaded guilty to the offence.
A man has been convicted and fined for a public order breach.
Marcin Salwa, 7 McDermott Street, Ballina made no appearance at Ballina District Court to face a charge of public intoxication.
Gda Rebecca Fearon told the court that she attended at Salwa’s address at McDermott Street on June 21 last in relation to a domestic dispute. The issue was dealt with and Salwa left the area. However, at around 8.50pm, Gardaí received a second call informing them that Salwa had returned to the property. Gda Fearon went to the scene and observed the defendant in a highly intoxicated state, “roaring, shouting and banging” on the door of the house, asking to be let back in. He was arrested.
Gda Fearon added that she had called to Salwa’s home on September 6 and informed him of the court date and wrote it down on a piece of paper for him.
Salwa has a number of previous convictions, including seven for intoxication.
Judge Sandra Murphy said she was satisfied the case had been proven and imposed a fine of €250. She fixed recognisances in the event of an appeal.
