Judge revokes bail in phone mast case

The defendant was remanded in custody after appearing before Castlebar District Court.

A Castlebar man charged with damaging a mobile phone mast has had his bail revoked.

Adrian Behan, aged 41, of Ballyfarna, Belcarra, Castlebar appeared before the local district court last week.

Det Gda Keith Coleman said Behan was charged with 11 offences at Castlebar District Court on September 15 last. He was released on bail subject to several conditions including that he sign on daily at Castlebar Garda Station, observe a curfew, live at his home address, and provide a contactable mobile number to Gardaí. A further condition was that he would not go within 500 metres of a telecommunications mast infrastructure.

Det Gda Coleman said Behan breached his bail conditions at Church View, Knock on October 31 last and was arrested on November 7 for allegedly causing criminal damage to a phone mast.

Solicitor Tom Walsh said he was not objecting to the application but asked that the case be expedited.

Judge Marie Keane revoked bail based on the seriousness of the alleged offences and remanded Behan in custody.
