Jimmy Conroy was found on a mattress in a back room at a house party in Ballinrobe during Covid-19.

A man was discovered on a mattress following a house party during a period of Covid-19 restrictions.

Jimmy Conroy, of Tullyvoheen, Galway Road, Clifden, pleaded guilty to the Covid-19 breach and a separate public order offence, before a sitting of Castlebar District Court.

At 10.28am on March 20, 2021, Gardai were called to a house at Lough Mask Road, Ballinrobe. A party had been ongoing at the residence since the previous night.

Conroy was found on a mattress in a back room. He told officers to go away and refused to provide his details before being later identified.

At 5.25am on April 24, 2022, Gardai discovered Conroy in a drunken state at Bog Road, Ballinrobe. He was arrested for his own safety.

The court heard the father-of-six has more than 40 previous convictions. Solicitor Cathy McDarby said her client had been drinking heavily at the time following a family bereavement.

Judge Vincent Deane fined Conroy €350.
