Contracts signed for new housing scheme

Contracts have been signed for the delivery of 39 local authority homes at Camross, Ballymote, Co Sligo.

The new development consists of a range of homes: 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, four no. 4 bedroom units and one 5 bedroom unit, including all associated site works and services.

Cllr Dara Mulvey said this was a great boost for the south Sligo area.

“I welcome the news that the contracts were signed for 39 new Local Authority homes at Camross, Ballymote. This development is great news for the south Sligo area and this is something I have lobbied for to help families struggling to get homes.”

The development was designed by Architects, Reddy Architecture & Urbanism and will be constructed by Vision Built Structures Ltd. The new homes are expected to be delivered by December 2025.

The development is funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, under the Housing for All Programme, delivered by Sligo County Council’s Housing Capital Section.

This Camross project is the first contract in Sligo’s Accelerated Delivery programme, utilising modern methods of construction and a Design and Build contract.

This is also the first project for a new Regional Framework for Contractors for social housing, led by Sligo County Council, for use by the seven Local Authorities across the North West region.

Tenders have also been recently returned for the construction of 30 new homes at Geldof Drive and Benson Court, Cranmore, and for 25 new homes in Carney.

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Cllr. Declan Bree, welcomed the new development saying: “These new developments demonstrate the Council’s commitment to providing quality social housing as part of Sligo’s Housing Delivery Action Plan 2022-2026.”
