Claremorris firm hopes to double staff numbers in 2024

The Haran Group, which specialises in providing scaffolding, hopes to double its workforce in the coming year.
A South Mayo firm plans to double its workforce to 30 in the next year.
The Haran Group is a family-owned business that specialises in scaffolding, machinery, and training. It is run by managing director Robert Haran who intends to double the investment in the firm up to €2 million in 2024.
The Claremorris-based company was established in 2007 with just three employees and has since grown into one of Ireland’s largest scaffolding companies.
Haran Scaffolding Ltd was the first branch of the business established and in recent years several new enterprises including Claremorris Safety Training Ltd and West Weld Training and Calibration have been launched.
“In the last three years, we have seen a huge demand for scaffolding, machinery and training here in the West and Midlands,” said Mr Haran. “It’s all these housing estates that are being built at the moment.
"We were able to invest over one million euros into the business this year and we have hopes of doubling that in 2024 and 2025.”
The Haran Group currently has 15 full-time employees in the scaffolding side of the business, with up to five freelance staff in the training branch and three more freelance employees working with West Weld.
“In the scaffolding end, we are hoping to take on between 10 to 15 people all going well next year,” Mr Haran said. “Business is going very well and we have a lot of stuff coming up and Galway, Limerick and Athlone and we are all very busy.”
He insists one of the main objectives for 2024 is to progress the training centre by offering more upskilling and safety training courses.
Mr Haran said he was honoured when the company won the 2020 All-Ireland Business Foundation award. The firm was also named 2021 All-Star Mayo Small Business Of The Year and All-Star Training Company of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
