Ahead of their recent annual general meeting last week, the board and management team of Tubbercurry Family and Childcare Resource Centre took the opportunity to have a site visit to their new childcare building.
The project engineer James O’Hara and main contractor James Armstrong of Arken Contractors were on hand to give a tour of the site and the works to date and to talk the board through the layout and build process.
“Thanks to grant aid of €750,000 from the Department of Children, Disability and Equality and money from our own reserves we are in a position to provide this purpose designed childcare building which will cater for 50 children and will run alongside our current childcare centre” explained chairperson Brendan McCauley. “Arken Contractors are making wonderful progress with the build, and we are on target to open in January 2027, when we look forward to welcoming more children to our service."
The board was delighted to be joined on the visit by Sharon Boyles, Manager of Sligo County Childcare Committee, to showcase the work to date.
At the conclusion of the visit, board member Fr Vincent Sherlock blessed the building and all involved with it, which was a lovely touch and was greatly appreciated.
