Child was not wearing seatbelt when disqualified driver was stopped in Mayo town

Gardai from the Mayo Roads Policing continue to carry out checkpoints in conjunction with the current Roads Policing Christmas Safety Campaign.

While in the Claremorris area, Gardai observed a child with no seat belt on in the rear of the car. Gardaí said that while speaking with the driver, a check was made on the Garda Mobility App and it became clear that the driver was serving a disqualification from driving.

At the same location another vehicle was stopped and it had no insurance.

Both vehicles were impounded and both drivers will now face the prospect of a court date.
