Charity is the winner after novelty event

Portwest's national sales manager Martin Foran presents the proceeds of the charity event to the team at SOSAD Ireland.
Under sunny skies, the annual Welly Throw competition, hosted by Portwest, made its much-anticipated return to the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois for an 11th year.
Once again, the event drew participants of all ages and received widespread national media coverage throughout the week. There was great fun had by all.
Over the course of the three-day Charity Welly Throw, more than 2,500 wellies were tossed, raising an impressive €8,281 for Save Our Sons and Daughters (SOSAD) - €3,000 more than the previous year’s total in 2023. Portwest’s National Sales Manager, Martin Foran, proudly presented the donation to Christy Bannon from SOSAD.
SOSAD works tirelessly to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland. They work in our communities to help those in need feel supported and know they are not alone on their journey.
SOSAD offers support and services for people who are struggling with suicidal ideation, self-harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety, or if you simply need to talk. If you want to talk, they are there to listen. They have six offices based in Cavan, Louth, Laois, Meath and Monaghan from which they provide their services.
