Charity auction at Mayo-Sligo Mart to raise funds for Cancer Care West

An in-calf heifer will go under the hammer at Mayo-Sligo Mart in Ballina this evening, with all proceeds from the charity lot going to Cancer Care West.
Brothers Anthony and James Gill will sell 38 high-end in-calf heifers at the mart’s first specialist auction of this kind.
All heifers are due to calve from November 1 onwards.
The final animal in the sale, Charity Lot 38, has been generously donated by the Crossmolina brothers.
She is sired by the well-known An De Beauffaux (BB4438) and is in-calf to Drumline S. Anthony has pledged to donate all proceeds from the sale to Cancer Care West.
The remaining heifers are AI-sired by Brontemoor Salering (LM9655), Drumline S 1185 (LM9577), Gaggin Timely (LM1946), Brooklands Marco (LM5443) and Sliabh Felim Sterling (LM8929).
A fundraising raffle will also take place on the night, with a top prize of €1,000, in aid of Cancer Care West.
Viewing begins at 5:30pm, with the sale getting underway at 7:30pm. Buyers can attend in person or bid online through MartEye.
