Chambers identifies key priorities as she seeks to regain Dáil seat

Senator Lisa Chambers is hoping to regain her Dáil seat.

Senator Lisa Chambers has identified three key priorities for the people of Mayo that she is hoping to deliver on should she be elected to Dáil Eireann.

The Fianna Fáil candidate in the General Election has identified housing, industry and infrastructure as three areas where gaps currently exist in the constituency.

“I am dedicated to being a strong voice for Mayo and ensuring that our needs are met in the next government. Together, we can build a brighter future for our county,” she said.

The Castlebar-based Senator said affordable housing will allow people onto the property ladder.

“I want to accelerate the delivery of affordable housing so people can buy and own their own homes. Housing is a fundamental need, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that every family has access to safe and affordable accommodation,” she said.

Senator Chambers said she would like to see an IDA site being developed here.

“I want to see new industry locate in Mayo through the purchase of a large-scale IDA site and a serious focus on the Strategic Development Zone at Knock Airport. This will create jobs and boost the local economy, helping to secure a prosperous future for our communities.” Lastly, she said that key infrastructure projects needed to be pursued and delivered.

“Key infrastructure projects are essential for our growth. I am committed to expanding Mayo University Hospital to meet our healthcare needs, advancing the Western Rail Corridor to connect Mayo and Galway, and investing in renewable offshore floating wind projects to drive economic growth in the region. Furthermore, I will advocate for more investment in our energy grid to ensure we have the robust infrastructure needed to support this growth.” Other priorities she has identified include improving support and services for carers. Senator Chambers has said she is also committed to pushing for increased Garda resource in Mayo.

“I understand the concerns of residents regarding Garda numbers, and I will advocate for a significant boost in recruitment efforts to ensure that our local Gardaí have the resources they need to effectively serve our communities.”
