Beloved Mayo pet undergoes revolutionary surgery

Veterinarian Emer O’Reilly saved the life of 17-year-old Merlin the Goldfish with a revolutionary surgery.
Veterinarian Emer O’Reilly saved the life of 17-year-old Merlin the Goldfish with a revolutionary surgery.
Merlin’s owner is Eileen Lynch from Castlebar. Lynch grew concerned when Merlin stopped eating. When she noticed a lump near his left eye, she brought her fish to MyVet in Lucan, Co. Dublin.
Merlin was put under anaesthesia before O’Reilly removed the tumour. As the beloved Goldfish is only three inches long, the veterinarian was not able to remove the entire growth.
However, Merlin’s family is delighted to see their cherished fish live to see another day.
