Belmullet's Nicola launches second kids' book

The front cover of the new book by Belmullet primary school teacher Nicola Lavelle

A Belmullet primary school teacher is set to launch her second book for young children.

Nicola Lavelle will release ‘Is Mise Nóinín’, a book aimed at 6-9 year olds this Sunday.

Nóinín is a cat, who after getting a sting from a bumblebee, tells us of her adventures.

“This delightful book deals with themes such as friendship, protecting the environment, the animals, the bees, the wildflowers, the plants and the herbs and the cures associated with them. These themes are beautifully illustrated by Aidan Courtney,” explained Nicola.

Nicola’s first book ‘Glór ar Inis Gluaire’ was published in 2021 and the profits donated to the Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

The book is available to buy online for €12.00 at www.nicolalavelle.bigcartel.com. It is also available in Charlie Byrnes Bookshop, Galway and Castle Books, Castlebar.

A book launch will be held in The Turas Siar, Language and Culture Centre, Cartron, Clogher, Belmullet, Co. Mayo at 3pm on Sunday, 10th March 2024.
