Bus Éireann has recognised Irving Moore of Ballina as School Bus Driver of the Year in the West at the 2026 GEM Awards, celebrating his conscientious approach, care for pupils and commitment to safe, reliable school transport.
Irving is recognised by his colleagues as a caring and dependable driver who takes pride in his role. He knows the pupils on his service, looks out for their needs and remains vigilant in ensuring services to his school centre operate as planned.
Safety, respect and diligence are central to his approach, and he consistently puts pupils first. His forward planning is another example of his commitment: by obtaining his pupil list a week before children return to school, he can prepare for the new school year and ensure new pupils are accounted for.
Miriam Flynn, Chief Schools Officer at Bus Éireann, said: “Irving demonstrates the care and responsibility that are so important in school transport. He knows his pupils, puts their safety first and takes practical steps to ensure his services run as planned. His forward-thinking approach and pride in his work make him a very deserving recipient of this award.”
The award recognises Irving’s dedication to the pupils he transports and the high standards he brings to school transport every day.
