Mayo skincare brand, Ella & Jo, has expanded into the UK retail market, according to Business Post.

The Ballina-based business was founded by Niamh Ryan and Charlene Flanagan in 2017. The pair met through working on roadshows about skincare. Ella & Jo was born when Ryan and Flanagan had the idea to create a makeup brush cleanser.

Ella & Jo prides itself on bringing joy back into the skincare market. The brand offers a wide selection of colourful products for a spa-like experience, Ryan told Business Post.

The name is a combination of Ryan’s skincare clinic, Ella Beauty, and Flanagan’s married surname, Jones.

To date, the brand employs a staff of 15. By the end of next year, Ryan and Flanagan aim to have 25 staff. Additionally, the duo hopes to expand further internationally.

Ella & Jo began with the support of Local Enterprise Office Mayo. When they were ready to scale up, Enterprise Ireland reached out. Enterprise Ireland provided the entrepreneurs with strategic support and a market discovery grant for the UK.

In addition, Ella & Jo was fortunate enough to sign TV presenter Cat Deeley as a brand ambassador shortly before she began fronting This Morning on ITV.
