Ambulance collided with wall and overturned during Mayo crash
A councillor has called on Mayo County Council to investigate a section of road where an ambulance recently crashed.
Cllr Al McDonnell told last week's meeting of Castlebar Municipal District that the accident occurred south of Partry and involved an ambulance, travelling from Sligo to Galway, mounting a wall covered in briars and continuing for 50 metres before overturning.
There were three ambulance staff in the vehicle at the time but no patients.
“Luckily no one was badly injured,” said Cllr McDonnell. “There was significant damage at the site and it needs to be investigated immediately.”
