Uisce Éireann crews are continuing to work to repair a burst on the trunk main from the Lough Mask Water Treatment Plant, which is having a significant impact on water supplies in a number of areas across South and East Mayo this evening.

Customers in parts of Castlebar, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Knock, Ballyhaunis, Kilmaine, Cong and Barnacarroll may be experiencing supply disruptions this evening as a result of this major burst, which is complex and proving difficult to repair.

Customers in Williamstown, Granlahan and Cloonfad, who are also supplied by the Lough Mask Public Supply, may also be experiencing disruptions to their supply.

Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may be particularly affected.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair the burst and to return supply to normal levels for affected customers as quickly as possible.

Colette Scahill, Uisce Éireann’s Water Network Operations Manager for Mayo, said that this is a major burst which is proving difficult to repair, but assured customers that every effort is being made to restore normal supply.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage, and we thank customers for their support while our works continue."
