2025 Ballina Salmon Festival is launched

The 61st annual Ballina Salmon Festival was officially launched in Dublin and Ballina last week.

One of Ireland’s longest-running community festivals, the Ballina Salmon Festival takes place from July 12 to 20 and will feature some Festival staples such as National Heritage Day and the Teddy Bears Picnic.

Two launch events were held last week, the first took place at Trinity Place in Dublin last Wednesday and was hosted by Minister Dara Calleary. He was joined by Minister of State Alan Dillon, Senator Mark Duffy, Mayo Association and Chambers Ireland representatives as well as members of the Salmon Festival committee.

The local community launch was held at the Mary Robinson Centre on Emmet Street last Friday evening.

Attendees enjoyed a warm and welcoming evening, featuring speeches from festival organisers and community leaders who spoke passionately about the importance of the festival to the town and its people. Guests were given an exclusive sneak preview of this year’s festival programme.

A special community toast was held in honour of the dedicated volunteers and supporters who make the festival possible year after year. The evening concluded with light refreshments and lively conversation, as local residents, businesses, and supporters came together to celebrate the spirit of Ballina and the enduring success of the Salmon Festival.

Chairperson of the Festival, Mary Dunne, expressed her gratitude for the support the festival continues to receive.

“The Ballina Salmon Festival means so much to our community. It brings life, colour, and a sense of pride to our town each summer, boosting local businesses and creating unforgettable memories for families and visitors alike.”

"None of this would be possible without the tireless work of our countless volunteers and the loyal support we receive from the people of Ballina year after year. We are so grateful to everyone who contributes to making the festival such a success."

The Ballina Salmon Festival will kick off on Friday, July 12 with the Lady of the Moy competition and on the following day, the Ballina Agricultural Show takes place all day at the Ballina Stephenites grounds.
