Results of Swinford Community lotto draw held on September 1, had the numbers 10, 19, 22 and 24 drawn. There was no jackpot winner. €70 vouchers were won by Mary Maloney, Oak Drive and Gary Buckley, Swinford. €35 was won by Danny Walsh, Bohola and Annie Gallagher, Meelick. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on September 8, was €7,400.

A two-day course, in partnership with Mental Health First Aid Ireland will take place at Cruinniu, Main Street Swinford F12 AN25 from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14. This course is free of charge. This course teaches participants how to assist a young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan. Killasser Community Centre Tractor Drive will be held on Sunday, October 5, starting from Killasser Community Centre. Registration from 1.30pm, drive departs at 2pm. €20 per tractor, €10 for second tractor. Refreshments and participants raffle afterwards.
Visiting priests will be available for confessions in Swinford Church on Sunday, September 14, between 5 and 6pm.
St Vincent de Paul East Mayo Area Council will host an information evening on September 16, in The Parish Centre Kiltimagh F12W8Y7 at 8pm. All are welcome. This event will provide information to the community on the varied work that SVP Volunteers carry out. The death occurred of Lena Duffy, Toronto, Canada. She was sister of the late Tom Mulligan, Ardacarra, Bohola. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

The jackpot is €1400 on 49 calls or less in the weekly bingo which is held in Kilmovee Community Centre on Sunday evenings at 8.30pm. The house lotto is €280 and there is also a 50/50 draw with a guaranteed winner on the night. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Kilmovee Community Centre are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile team member to join the vibrant community centre. This varied role involves supporting all areas of the centre's operations, with a primary focus on the popular homework club program. Culture Night will be celebrated again this year in Carracastle Community Centre on Friday, September 19, from 8pm, with music from the pupils of Scoil Iosa National School, Carracastle, and their music teacher Theresa O’Grady, as well as music and chat with the current Mayo Rose of Tralee Clara Gardiner. The death took place of Patrick Burke, Aughalustia, on August 8, peacefully at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar. Patrick, better known as Paddy, was previously a resident of the Oakwood Nursing Home, Ballaghaderreen. Paddy was predeceased by his parents Tom and Margaret, he will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, cousins, relatives and many friends.
During his working life, Paddy was an esteemed employee of Cunniffes butchers on Main Street in Ballaghaderren. He was the friendly face who met his customers and friends with a gentle wave and a kind peoples person who always wore a smile and who showed concern for all enquiring how elderly neighbours whom he had not seen for some time were fairing. He was humble, helpful and honest, a gentleman who cared for all.
Paddy reposed in The Kilgarriff Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, followed by removal to the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen. Mass of the Resurrection was followed by interment in Fairymount (old) Cemetery. May Paddy rest in peace. Sympathy is offered to all who are bereaved.
The death took place of Fintan Donnelly, Roscommon, on August 7, in his 83rd year peacefully at home, after a brief illness bravely endured, surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Roscommon Palliative Homecare Team. Fintan was an employee of the Hibernian Bank and Bank of Ireland in Ballaghaderreen, and he will be remembered with great fondness by many people in town.
He is deeply mourned by his wife Terry, daughter Catherine and sons Aedan, John, Fintan Jnr. and Ronan, cherished grandchildren Joe, Tom, Emma, Yasmin, Ben, Harry, Lauren, Ruan, Adam, Holly and Sam, daughters-in law Mary, Aisling, Judith and Deirdre, sister Yvonne, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, extended family and a wide circle of colleagues and friends. Fintan was predeceased by his brother Martin and sister-in-law Angela.
Fintan reposed in Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon followed by removal from his home arriving at the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am followed by interment in St Coman’s Cemetery. May Fintan rest in peace as sympathy is offered to all who are bereaved.
