Winners of Cúram draw

Cúram has announced the winners of its recent Jackpot Giveaway Lucky Dip draw, which took place on Tuesday, December 16th. In total, 15 winners were selected, with prizes ranging from €500 to €1,000.

The five €1,000 prizes were won by the Burke Family from Mayfield, Claremorris, Pat Prendergast of Belfield, Claremorris, Karen Maloney, Claremorris, Una Vahey Donnellan, Claremorris, and Mary Gill from Scardaune, Claremorris.

A further ten €500 prizes were awarded to Arlene Larkin, Claremorris; Noel Hughes, Roundfort; Ciaran Ryan, Kilbeg, Claremorris; Joe Burke, Claremorris; Ann Charles, Claremorris; Mary Dawson, Claremorris; Patrick O’Brien, Kiltimagh; Michael Walsh, Kiltimagh; Sarah Flanagan, and Kathy and Brian Green from Cloonfad.

Cúram has thanked everyone who continues to support its lottery.

Hollymount LGFA players on Mayo panel 

Hollymount LGFA club is celebrating a series of representative and individual honours following recent announcements. 

Minor players Lily Hession, Katie Corcoran and Sari Vahey have been selected on the Mayo minor panel for the 2026 season, while Chloe Stagg has been named on the Mayo U16 panel for the coming year. 

There was further good news for the club as senior goalkeeper Ciara Brennan was named Goalkeeper of the Year. The club has congratulated all involved, acknowledging the commitment and effort that has led to these achievements.

Seán wins Claremorris AFC 50/50 

Seán Conroy was the winner of the latest Claremorris AFC 50/50 draw, taking home €440. Seán bought the winning ticket in O’Brien’s and was congratulated by the club on his success. 

Claremorris AFC expressed its thanks to everyone who continues to support the draw, with funds raised helping to support teams and improve club facilities. Tickets remain available online and in local shops and pubs around Claremorris.

Kinja lands GAA 50/50 jackpot 

Kinja Sondej was the winner of Claremorris GAA’s 50/50 draw last week, taking home €1,338. Kinja bought the winning ticket in Warde’s and was congratulated by the club on the success. 

The club expressed its appreciation to everyone who continues to support the weekly draw, with funds raised contributing to underage coaching, team development and club facilities.

A number of hamper prizes were also awarded. Brian Gallagher won the Glynn's Checkout hamper with a ticket bought online, while Jarlath English claimed the Kenmore Builders hamper with a ticket bought in O’Brien’s. The Keane’s Butchers hamper went to Mary Murray, whose ticket was purchased in Keane’s Butchers, and Sinead Payne Treacy won the Daily’s hamper with a ticket bought in O’Brien’s.

Claremorris GAA thanked all who entered the weekly 50/50 and reminded supporters that tickets are available online and in local shops and pubs throughout the town.

Tractor and Truck Run in Brickens 

The annual Christmas Tractor and Truck Run will take place on Saturday, December 27th, starting from Brickens Community Centre. Registration opens at 3pm, with participants departing at 4.30pm. 

The entry fee is €20 per vehicle, and all funds raised will go towards the development of Kelly's Field. Following the run, there will be music and a raffle in McGuire’s Bar. Anyone with queries can contact 086-1652681 for further information.

Richard (Dick) Horan, RIP 

The death has occurred of Richard Horan, better known as Dick, of Garrywadreen, Balla Road, Claremorris. 

Dick died suddenly at his residence. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Nora, sister Mary Nestor, and brothers-in-law Leo and James.

Dick is survived by his heartbroken wife Mags, sons Jimmy and Gavin, daughters-in-law Mary and Lorna, and cherished grandchildren Mae, Mollie, James and Ali. He is also deeply missed by his brothers Padraig and Donal, sisters Annette and Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbours and many close friends.

Dick’s remains reposed at Gilligan’s Funeral Home, Market Square, Claremorris on Saturday, December 13th. His funeral cortege arrived at St Colman’s Church on Sunday for Requiem Mass followed by burial in St Colman’s Cemetery. 

May he rest in peace.

Matt (Martin) Hogan, RIP 

The death has occurred of Matt (Martin) Hogan of Doogara, Ballaghaderreen, and late of Hollymount, Claremorris.

Matt died peacefully at home on December 11th, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his son Joseph, parents Ellen and Jack, brothers Mike and Johnny, and sisters Mary, Kathleen and Evelyn.

Matt is forever missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife Marion, children Martina, Rosanne, John, Georgina, David, Matthew, Josephine, Michael, Bernadine and Stephen, sons-in-law Austin, Brendan, John (H), John (K) and Michael, daughters-in-law Patricia, Maria, Ying and Fiona, 28 grandchildren, great-grandchildren Mary, Alice and Robyn, sisters, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Matt’s remains reposed in the Kilgarriff Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Sunday evening, concluding with evening prayer. Funeral Mass took place on Monday afternoon in the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy, followed by burial in Kilcolman Cemetery. 

May he rest in peace.

Mary Prendergast, RIP 

The death has occurred of Mary Prendergast (née McGee) of Ballyroe, Grangemellon, Athy, Co Kildare, and formerly of Logboy, Irishtown. Mary died peacefully on December 15th at St Vincent’s Hospital, Athy. She was predeceased by her husband Austin (Gus), sister Helen and brother Joe.

Mary is sadly missed by her loving sons Christy, Vinnie and Louis, sisters Nora (Byrne), Ann (Keane) and Margaret (Boyle), sister-in-law Kathleen, daughters-in-law Mary and Martina, grandsons Owen, Niall, Stephen, Gary and Kevin, great-grandchildren Oscar and Daisy Mai, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral and burial took place in Co Kildare. 

Seán Brennan, RIP 

The death has occurred of Seán Brennan of Claremount Nursing Home, Claremorris, and formerly of Eskragh, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo, and Manchester, England. 

Seán died peacefully on December 15th at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar. He was predeceased by his loving partner Kath, parents Tommy and Christine, and brother Billy.

Seán is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brother Tommy, sister-in-law Kathleen, niece and god-daughter Claire and her partner James, nephew Kieran and his wife Trish, grand-nieces and grand-nephews Molly and Harry, Paul, Laura and David, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.

Seán’s remains reposed at Coen’s Funeral Home, Tubbercurry on Thursday evening last with removal to St Attracta’s Church, Tourlestrane. Mass of the Resurrection took place on Friday morning followed by burial in Rhue Cemetery. 

May he rest in peace. 

Eileen Egan, RIP 

The death has occurred of Eileen Egan (née Heaney) of Carrowkeelanahglass, Dunmore, Co Galway, and formerly of Killeenrevagh, Scardaune, Claremorris. 

Eileen died peacefully on December 18th in her 98th year in the presence and loving care of her best friend John and the wonderful staff of Central Park Nursing Home, Clonberne. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Martin, parents John and Ellen Heaney, sisters Mary Teresa, Annie, Kathleen and infant Philomena, brothers Paddy Joe, Mick, Gabe and John Heaney, and brothers-in-law Eddie and Johnny Egan, along with other extended family members.

Eileen is deeply missed and fondly remembered by her caring nephew-in-law John Gleeson, her nephews and nieces Joe, Frank and Mary Kearney (Lackagh), and Mary, James, Josephine, Paddy and John Higgins (Lissatava) and their families. She will also be remembered with affection by her loyal extended in-law families, the Gleeson family of Shanballymore, the Healy family of Gatestown, the Joyce family of Garryduff, the Donnellan family of Lavally, her devoted Egan family of Lissyconner, the extended Heaney, Whelan and Egan families, as well as her many loyal friends, neighbours and relations.

Eileen’s remains reposed at Glynn’s Funeral Home, Dunmore on Friday last with removal afterwards to the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, Dunmore. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday followed by burial in the local cemetery. 

May she rest in peace. 

Richard J Healy, RIP 

The death occurred on December 16th of Richard J. Healy of Weil am Rhein, Germany, and formerly of Townalough, Claremorris. 

Richard is deeply missed by his beloved wife Ramona and his adored son Luca, brother Vincent Healy (Townalough), sisters Denise Morley (Ballinrobe), Mary Boyle (Carrownedan) and Catharina Morley (Cloonfaughna), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Richard’s funeral took place in Germany. 

May he rest in peace. 

Vera Creaton, RIP

The death has occurred of Vera Creaton (née McNulty) of Glencarra, Knock, and Lisacul, Castlerea, Co Roscommon, and formerly of Gorthaganny, Castlerea.

Vera died peacefully in Ave Maria Nursing Home, Tooreen, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband John and brother Tony.

Vera is deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by her son Gerard, daughter Miriam, grandchildren Gary, Anthony, Cathal and Fintan, daughter-in-law Geraldine, son-in-law Martin, granddaughter-in-law Aideen, sister Ita, brother Hauley, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Vera’s remains reposed at Gavin’s Funeral Home, Ballyhaunis on Friday evening, with removal to St Mary’s Church, Gorthaganny. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday followed by burial in the local cemetery.
