The Hyundai Tucson was the most popular car model in Ireland in 2024.
The most popular car model in Ireland in 2024 was the Hyundai Tucson, which finished ahead of the Skoda Octavia, Kia Sportage, Toyota Rav and Toyota Yaris Cross in the Top 5. The figures were compiled by the Society of the Irish Motoring Industry (SIMI).
The top-selling electric vehicle (EV) car brands were Tesla, Volkswagen, Kia, Hyundai and BYD, while the top five EV models were the Tesla Model, Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Kona.
In terms of the share of new cars sold by transmission type, the breakdown was as follows: Automatic - 66.09% and Manual - 33.80%.
The market share by engine type in 2024 was: Petrol - 30.31%, Diesel - 22.80%, Hybrid - 20.92%, Electric - 14.41% and Plug-in Hybrid - 10.02%
