Mayo IFA to host farm succession meeting

The Mayo IFA Chairman advised any landowner in the county who is in the process or even thinking about transferring the farm to attend the meeting.
The Mayo IFA Executive are holding an open meeting for landowners on the thorny issue of transferring the family farm, otherwise known as succession planning.
The ever-evolving nature of time passing and the sometimes-thorny issue of planning the transfer of the family farm can cause many headaches among the farming fraternity, according to John Lynskey, Mayo IFA County Chairman.
Mr. Lynskey advised that the meeting will take place in the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar, on Tuesday, April 15th, at 8 p.m.
Speakers will include Martin Clarke, Commercial Manager with IFAC Accountants, who will outline the process of transferring the farm or property in a tax-efficient way. Donal Quinn of Quinn Solicitors Athenry will outline the legal process involved in transferring farmland and/or associated property.
