Ford reinvents bestselling Kuga SUV

A new front design gives the Kuga a sharper look and a stronger on-road presence.

Ford has given its Kuga a crossover for 2024 with new exterior styling and enhanced interiors, writes Trish Whelan.

There are also improvements to the plug-in hybrid powertrains, offering extended EV range now rated at up to 69kms from a full charge.

A new front design gives the Kuga, in its third generation and the best-selling PHEV in Europe over three years, a sharper look and a stronger on-road presence. Full LED headlights are standard, and there is a full-width LED light bar available as part of the optional Technology Pack.

The car has a claimed class-leading towing capability of 2,100kg.

Inside, the latest wide-screen iteration of Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system has 5G connectivity allowing access to cloud-based real-time navigation. Alexa Built-in is also standard. Driver assistance technologies include enhanced Adaptive Cruise Control.

Sliding second-row seats can boost legroom to over one metre for rear occupants or create up to 140 litres of extra boot space.

Kuga is built in Europe at Ford’s advanced Valencia plant in Spain.
