Fantastic line-up at Ballina Arts Centre this summer

If you fancy a little soul with your salad or salsa with your sandwich, Ballina Arts Centre is the place to be on Wednesdays this summer.

If you fancy a little soul with your salad or salsa with your sandwich, Ballina Arts Centre is the place to be on Wednesdays this summer.

The lineup for this year’s free, Music @ Lunchtime concerts has just been released, and includes a fantastic mix of blues, jazz, soul & trad as well as modern improv and original material.

The artists include violinists, pianists, singers, songwriters, and guitarists as well as trad, and jazz groups, and even acapella.

The series opens next Wednesday, June 4th, with popular local artist Gerry Ring, who will perform a selection of easy listening pop classics. Gerry is well known for his irreverent style and lively audience interaction, so this promises to be a fun start to the 2005 programme.

Other acts this month include:

- June 11th: Alan Chaney (Laid back acoustic guitar)

- June 18th: Billie Forde (Blues, Jazz, and R&B vocalist)

- June 25th: Liz Jackson (Fiddle/Violin– trad, folk and classical)

The series of free concerts proved so popular when it was introduced in 2024 that this year’s programme has been extended through July and into August – see website for details.

Audrey Robinson, the programme coordinator, is hoping that the extended and varied line- up will attract even more people this year.

She said: "We were at full capacity for most of the shows last year. The music is free and there is tea and coffee available, so we hope the crowds will be back again this year to take this opportunity to hear live music from some really talented local musicians. The gigs start at 1.15 and finish at 1.45, so people have time to get to and from work. They will take place every Wednesday in June/July & August, and the full line-up is available on the Ballina Arts Centre website."
