Tractor Drive

Killasser Community Centre Tractor Drive will be held on Sunday, October 5, starting from Killasser Community Centre. Registration from 1.30pm, drive departs at 2pm. €20 per tractor, €10 for second tractor. Refreshments and participants raffle afterwards.

Killasser Calendar 2026

After the success of the Killasser/Callow Parish Calendars 2023, 2024, 2025 another one will be produced for 2026. The theme of the 2026 calendar is Killasser/Callow from the air. Indoor Market

Swinford Indoor Market, will take place on Saturday, October 4, in Swinford Cultural Centre from 10.30am to 3pm with numerous vendors showcasing a wide selection of locally sourced produce, crafts, and unique items. Cácaí Acla will be serving teas, coffees, and their fabulous bakes indoors at the market.

GAA 50/50

Congratulations to Anne Kirraine who won €356 in the Swinford GAA 50/50 draw.

Lotto

The numbers drawn in the Swinford Community Lotto draw held on September 22, were 3, 5, 7 and 16. There was no jackpot winner. €70 vouchers were won by Tommy Henry, Curryane and Marina Byrne, Park Road, Swinford; €35 was won by Eimear King (x2) Rathcluain, Kitimagh, Bernard Lavin, Castlebawn Midfield and Patrick Joseph Gallagher, Callow. The jackpot is now €8,000.

Swinford AC thank you

Swinford AC and the ¾ Marathon, 10km and 5km race director Kieran Gallagher thanks everyone in the community for supporting their fundraising race on September 6. So many of the community ran and walked in the race and donated cakes and sandwiches for the all-important cuppa held in the community centre afterwards. Swinford AC also acknowledge the patience of the community who had to deal with road closures that were in place on race day in order to cater for over 900 runners and walkers. A particular word of thanks to the residents of Park Road, Kiltimagh Road, Meelick, Bohola and the Ballylahan Bridge area. Thank you to everyone who marshalled and organised water stations along the route. Without your help the race would not be the success it is every year. Swinford AC look forward to organising this event again in 2026.

Remembrance by Candlelight

Remembrance by Candlelight in St Michaels’ Church, Foxford, will be held on Wednesday, October 29, at 7pm. Join opera singer Sean Ruane and Bernadette Ruddy alongside St. Anne’s Choir (UK), Maria Lynn, The Doherty’s and The Doocey’s for a candlelight evening of amazing performances. Tony and Bernie Towey Perpetual Cup

The 13th annual dance competition for the Tony and Bernie Towey Perpetual Cup will take place in The Brusna Inn on Friday, October 3, commencing at 9pm, so get your dancing shoes ready and put this date in your diary. The old time waltz, jive and quickstep will be the order of participation. The competition this year will see trophies presented to 1st , 2nd and 3rd prize winners in each category of dance with one overall winner being presented the Tony and Bernie Towey Perpetual Cup.

There will also be a slow waltz competition for a perpetual trophy. This promises to be a memorable night so come along and enjoy a great night of music and dancing to the best of country and Irish with Pat Mulchrone. Admission is €12 which includes tickets for raffle on the night.

Open Day

Kilmovee Active Thursday Club are hosting an open day on October 30, in Kilmovee Centre from 1 to 5pm. They will have finger food, live music with Mark Finn with prizes for the best fancy dress effort, a big raffle with loads of prizes, a door prize, and much more. Fr Padraig Costello Golden Jubilee

Fr Padraig Costello's Golden Jubilee celebrations will take place in Kilkelly Church with Mass on Sunday, October 5, at 5pm followed by light refreshments in the Trimoige - Kilkelly Community Centre. Parent and Toddler Group

Kilmovee Parent and Toddler Group meet each Tuesday from 10am-12 noon in Kilmovee Community Centre. All parents, grandparents, carers and toddlers are welcome to attend for a chat, play and coffee. It’s a great place to meet for a chat.

The late Margaret (Margo) Cassidy née Devally

The death took place of Margaret Cassidy, Scallen Road, Trillick, Omagh, Co. Tyrone and formerly of Cuddoo, Colemanstown, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry on September13. Margaret, also known as Margo was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Agnes, her infant sister Teresa and her sister-in-law Ellen. Margaret is survived her heartbroken husband James, brothers Vincent and Kevin, sisters Dympna, Kathleen, Ann, Carol and Aedamer, mother-in-law Alicia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Margaret reposed in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Wednesday, September 17. Removal took place from the home of her niece-in-law Michelle Jordan, Kilmovee on Thursday, September18, at 11am to St. Patrick’s Church, Gurteen, County Sligo arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, followed by interment in Naomh Mobhí cemetery, Kilmovee.

Margaret was sister in law of Mary Jordan, Rusheens, Kilmovee. May Margaret rest in peace as sympathy is offered to all who mourn her passing.

Halloween Camp

A Halloween Camp will be held in Bohola Community Centre on Thursday, October 30 and Friday, October 31, with lots of spooky games, art, dance and more. The camp is suitable for children aged 3-12 and takes place from 10am to 1pm on both days. The cost is €30 per child or €50 for two children. Recent deaths

The death occurred of Peter Flanagan, Roscommon, who died on Wednesday, September 17, and whose funeral took place in Roscommon on Saturday, September 20. He was the brother-in-law of the late Micksey Clarke, Bohola; Frank Killigrew, Modeligo, Waterford, who died on Saturday, September 6, and whose funeral took place in Modeligo on the following Tuesday. He was the husband of Philomena (née Groarke), formerly of Knockatemple and the brother-in-law of Peggy Henry and Patrick Groarke, Knockatemple. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Fundraiser for Bohola Playground

Individuals and groups are being sought to be part of a Lipsync Show which will take place on Saturday, November 15, in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh. For further information, call Mary Ellen on 087 7929138. The event is organised by the Durcan Bohola Community Park Committee.
