Swim in Pink will be held on Sunday, October 13, at Enniscrone Pier in support of Breast Cancer Research. Register at www.swiminpink.ie. Registration is €25 and receive a free Swim in Pink cap.
A big beach clean-up initiative is being run from September 20-22 by Clean Coasts. This is an annual event to remove litter from around our shorelines. The initiative is also an opportunity for volunteers to get involved which entails collecting the amount and type of litter on Irish Beaches and filling in Marine Litter data cards. Rathlee Tidy Towns are organising a clean up on Saturday, September 21, meeting at the church at 11am. All materials necessary will be provided. They are asking for support and hope as many volunteers can make themselves available to support this initiative. The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, September 8, were 5, 9, and 16. The €25 prizewinners were Maura Harnett, Sinead Nevin, Daniel O’Rourke and Michael Hynes. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on Sunday, September 15, in The Pilot Bar, was €7,600.
Congratulations to the Eoghan Rua Ladies U14B team captained by Erin Hallinan who won the championship on Saturday, September 7, last. They held on until the very end to take home the cup. The club congratulate all the girls and their management and hope they had an enjoyable year of football and they also thanked the legends on the sideline – Joanne, Orna, Noreen, Laura and Brandan for all their hard work and commitment during the year. The full time score was Eoghan Rua 1-9, St Molaise Gaels 2-02.
The senior ladies from Kilglass Enniscrone FC started their season with a trip to McSharry Park to play Calry Bohs. After an even enough start the ladies hit Calry for two quick goals, both from Saoirse Corcoran. Saoirse got her 3rd after 20 minutes and a 4th from the energetic Tara Hastings gave them a half time 4-0 lead.
The 2nd half was even enough but a 5th was added direct from a free by Maria O’Connell. Leah Weir finished the scoring to give the girls a great 6-0 win to start the league in style.
Harvest Thanksgiving will be held in St Anne’s Church, Easkey on Friday, September 20, at 8pm. All are welcome to come along.

The U12 girls from Kilglass Enniscrone FC played their first home game against Real Tubber on Saturday, September 7. A really spirited performance from the girls that saw them come back from 3-0 down to pull it level to 3-3 with ten minutes to go. Credit to Tubber who got two late goals to see the Kilglass Enniscrone girls lose 5-3. However they took many positives for their performance and there was lots of smiling faces at the end, with credit to Real Tubber for an entertaining game.
The Activator Pole Walking will commence for the Autumn season tomorrow Wednesday, September 18, from 11.15am to 12.15pm. This 12 week programme will continue until December 11, with no session on October 30. The cost is €30. Join Gerry Curley, chairman of Enniscrone Show, family and friends on September 21, at Lough Talt for a fabulous walk in memory of his sister Mary Mitchell nee Curley, and in doing so raise funds for The Marie Keating Foundation to help other people on their cancer journey. The walk starts and finishes at Lough Talt Church, F91 HK29 with registration at 12 noon and cost is €20 per person. The walk starts at 2pm. Coaching offier at Castleconnor GAA Club, Bernie Finley is organising fun and games for children with additional needs in the coming months. Anybody interested or looking to make an inquiry is asked to contact Bernie as soon as possible, so interest can be gauged. There will be fun games for children aged 4-12 years with additional needs and their siblings. Parents must stay and play.
The numbers drawn in the Castleconnor GAA lotto which was held on Saturday, September 7, were 8, 12, 23, and 29. There was no jackpot winner and no match 3 winner. Congratulations to Tomas Gilmartin who won €50 in the lucky dip draw. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on September 14, was €23,300 and the match 3 was €300.
What a great end to Community Games 2024 with Lauren Mulroney, Castleconnor Community Games coming home with a national medal for model making having come third in the event which was held in Carlow recently. Well done Lauren, a girl of many talents.
Competing also was Riley Newell, Castleconnor Community Games in the handwriting competition. Although Riley wasn’t in the medals she really enjoyed the experience of her first national finals. Castleconnor Community Games extend thanks to all the children, parents and committee members who were involved this year and they hope all will be back again in 2025.
