North Mayo communities mourn passing of popular farmer and GAA official
The late Michael McAndrew
The death took place last week of Michael McAndrew, Greenwood, Rathnamagh, Crossmolina and formerly of Treenagh, Moygownagh, peacefully, in his 96th year, surrounded by his loving family. Michael, who was predeceased by his wife Kathleen, is sadly missed by his sons Michael and Gerry, his daughters Ann Munnelly and Breda Hartley, sons-in-law Raymond and Andy, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Aidan, Courtney, Rachel, Michael, Hannah, Ronan, Katelyn, Aisling, Leonie, Niamh, James, Grace, Patrick, Aoibhe and Eoghan, great-granddaughters Jaelynn and Fiadh, sister Mary (Co Offaly), sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a huge circle of friends.
Michael possessed a very kind and compassionate personality which endeared him to all who came to know him. He was vice-president of Ardagh GAA Club, a position he was extremely proud of and had a deep interest in all farming matters both locally and nationally. Michael was held in very esteem throughout the community and beyond and this was reflected in the huge attendance at his obsequies in Hiney's Funeral Home, Crossmolina, and at Requiem Mass in the Church of the Assumption, Ardagh, followed by his burial in Lisheen cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
