Congratulations is extended to Charlie Lynott, a student of Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone on his selection to the Connacht Rugby U18 boys aged group grade squad for the 2026 Summer Programme. Charlie will represent both Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Enniscrone, and Ballina RFC in this summer’s interprovincial series. This is testament to Charlie’s hard work, dedication and commitment to rugby.
The 1st game on August 15 is Munster v Connacht at Highgfield RFC (1pm), August 22, Connacht v Leinster at Creggs RFC at 1pm and August 29, Ulster v Connacht, at Affidea Stadium at 1pm also.

New for 2026 at Enniscrone Show is the Sensory Hub. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the show, the Sensory Hub is a calm, quiet and welcoming space for those who may need a moment to relax, recharge and reset. The quiet space is a sensory friendly environment and will be open throughout the day. This space is intended for those who need it, and the organisers kindly ask all visitors to respect its purpose and help them maintain a peaceful atmosphere.

Fairy House Handicraft present summer camps for little artists, aged 5-12, from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24, from 10am-2pm and on Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, from 10am-2pm, at Kilglass Parish Community Centre, Kilglass. Come along to try fun activities such as clay, decoupage, painting, wreath making, and paper craft. The cost is €100 per child per week and there is family discount available. Well done to all the competitors who took part in the county athletic finals last week, and a few medals came home with them. The committee extend thanks to the event organisers and volunteers for a successful and well run day. Kiaer won gold in the U8 80m; Chroia won gold in the U10 200m; Roisin won gold in the U12 600m; Brendan got bronze in the U14 200m and Donnacha won silver in the U14 javelin.
The numbers drawn in the Enniscrone combined football clubs blotto draw which was held on Sunday, June 21, were 22, 41 and 43. The €25 prizewinners were Michael E Hannon, Tommy Connaughton, E Mary Boland and Seamus Sloyan. The jackpot in the latest draw which was held on June 28, in Hopkins Bar, was €3200.
A live baking demonstration with Dee Freney, winner of RTÉ Today’s TV Home Cook 2026 will take place from 2-3pm at Enniscrone Show on Sunday, July 5, in Castleconnor Sports Complex. Dee will be sharing her passion for gluten-free baking, creating delicious treats while offering plenty of tips and inspiration along the way. Whether you are an experienced baker or simply enjoy good food, this entertaining and informative demonstration is sure to be a highlight of the day. Be sure to stop by, you won’t want to miss it.
Huge congratulations to the 2nd U14 team from Eoghan Rua Ladies who claimed the U14 Division 4 shield title after as superb win over St Nathy’s 2 in Easkey. The full time score was Eoghan Rua 6-16, St Nathy’s 5-11. Well done to all the girls on a brilliant performance and to their management team. Captain Chloe Connor was presented with the silverware by Liam Naughton, representing Sligo LGFA.
Focus for the girls now turns to the U14 division 1 who contest the Division 1 shield final against Drumcliffe/RP. It has been a busy few weeks for the U14 girls and they travelled to County Derry for Feile 2026 at the weekend.
The annual Mass in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass, will be held on Sunday, August 2, at 6pm. Mass in Roslea Cemetery will take place on Friday, July 31, at 7pm and Churchill annual cemetery Mass will take place on Sunday, August 2, at 12 noon.
Its that time of year again where the Eoghan Rua Ladies Football Club lotto tickets are up for renewal. The jackpot currently stands at €5400 (jackpot as of June 28). Tickets are €80 which includes 52 draws (12 are free); must be renewed by June 30; lotto prize increased by €100 every week if not won; there are 5 €30 consolation prizes are designated to annual lotto ticket holders every week.
Over the last 12 months the club have distributed €41,200 in prizes, with one lucky winner winning the jackpot of €20,900, and another lucky winner winning a jackpot of €12,900 and there was €7800 in consolation prizes. All funds sold go directly to Eoghan Rua Ladies and help them support the underage and adult female teams. A huge congratulations is extended to 5th year student at Colaiste Iascaigh, Frankie Higgins who proudly represented the school in the Irish Junior Open Schools Cup in Greystones. Frankie was competing in a strong Boys U19 field and he delivered an excellent performance finishing in 2nd place. The competition was played in a fourball format and he finished just 1 shot off the top, returning a superb 81 gross / 64 net. He produced a particularly strong back nine and Frankie said ‘I felt I played well overall – I really improved on the back nine and was happy to finish just one shot off the top in a strong field’. This was a fantastic achievement at such a high level of competition and all at Colaiste Iascaigh are very proud of Frankie.

This year the junior room from Stokane NS proudly took part in the Curious Minds STEM programme and were delighted to be awarded a silver award for their hard work and enthusiasm. Throughout the year, the children enjoyed carrying out a variety of exciting experiments, including dancing raising, spiral snakes, bouncy eggs and investigating magnets. They also planted and cared for sunflowers, observing how they grew over time.
The children used iPads to research their projects and discover many interesting facts about the world about them. Taking part in STEM activities helped to develop their curiosity, problem-solving skills and love of learning. They hope to take part in the programme again next year and work towards achieving a gold award.
A great day was had by the children from Castleconnor Community Games at the county finals last week. All the children were fantastic and represented Castleconnor with pride. There were plenty of participants who progressed to semi-finals and finals. The medal winners on the day were Sean Geraghty 1st U10 hurdles; Sean Gordon 1st U12 100m; Cara Boland 3rd U8 60m; Ellie Mai Lynott 3rd U12 throw ball; Nicole Harrison 3rd U16 discus; and Sonny Lynott 2nd U16 discus.
