Féile na Samhna

The 13th annual Féile na Samhna will take place in Swinford on the October Bank Holiday weekend, October 24 to 27. There will be a busy packed schedule with events ranging from a Seisiún na nÓg from 7pm in The White House on Friday evening followed by the official opening with National Youth Officer Breege Gleeson and a senior session to a local history walk followed by cupán agus comhrá, refreshments and a session in Padraig Horkans on Monday.

On Saturday starting at 11am the singing and bodhrán workshops will be held in Swinford NS as well as a pop-up Gaeltacht and a Rhythm and Song session for 4 to 6 year olds. The flagship event, The Rambling House, will take place on Sunday evening from 5pm. Other great plans include a recital by The Midfield Pipe Band on Sunday after 12 noon Mass, a singing session on Saturday night in Bolands at 8.30pm, and a session trail beginning at 7pm on Saturday evening in the pubs. Swinford Agricultural Show AGM

The Swinford Agricultural Show 2025 AGM will take place on Monday, November 3, at 8pm in Bolands Bar. All are welcome, especially new members.

Lotto

The numbers drawn in the Swinford Community Lotto draw held on October 13, were 4, 5, 7 and 15. Living Well Programme

Living Well is a free HSE programme which helps people living with a long-term health condition to manage their symptoms and improve their overall wellbeing. Anyone with any chronic illness such as diabetes, arthritis, COPD, cardiac illness, anxiety, etc. can benefit from these workshops. A new programme will commence in Swinford on Thursday, November 6, from 10am – 12.30pm, continuing weekly at that time for six weeks. The programme is free but it is essential to register in advance. Swinford GAA in partnership with Swinford Killasser LGFA will host a Halloween ‘Scary Walk’ fundraiser on Thursday, October 30, from 6pm with proceeds to be split equally between both clubs. A very generous parishioner is sponsoring a Christmas dinner for those of retirement age, in the Sheridan Community Centre on Saturday, December 13. Congratulations to the students from Bohola and Straide who received their John Paul 11 Awards at a ceremony in St Michael’s Church, Foxford on Wednesday evening last. Going forward, we trust they will continue to contribute to the life of their communities and Church.

Halloween Camp in Bohola

A Halloween Camp will be held in Bohola Community Centre on Thursday, October 30 and Friday, October 31. Launch night

The launch night of the 19th edition of Kilkelly Kilmovee Parish Magazine will be held at Ireland West Airport on Bank Holiday Sunday, October 26, at 8pm. Special guest is Mick Mulhern and many more local musicians. The mistress of ceremonies is Eunice Moran. There will be complimentary parking, refreshments and cake and a fantastic doorprize for a lucky entrant and plenty of prizes to be won on the night. It will be a great night of free entertainment and everyone is welcome.

Open Day

Kilmovee Active Thursday Club is hosting an open day on October 30, in Kilmovee Centre from 1 to 5pm. They will have finger food, live music with Mark Finn with prizes for the best fancy dress effort, a big raffle with loads of prizes, a door prize, and much more. October rosaries

The Rosary will be recited in Kilkelly Church at 7.30pm and Kilmovee at 8pm on the Sundays of October.

 The management of Kilmovee Community Centre are looking for volunteers to help deliver Meals on Wheels to residents in their own homes. Your time would be voluntary, but your mileage will be reimbursed. If you can spare some time and would be interested in helping out, Kilmovee Community Centre would love to hear from you.
